Between January 22 and Feb 2, 2007, I travelled to Estipac, Mexico,
with Melanie Davenport to
offer a set of workshops on video and animation to students enrolled
in the high school and
normal school of Centro Rural de Educación
Superior (CRES).
The links below show you some of the
work created by the participants, including:
- lower-tech animation by college students training
to be elementary school teachers.
- cut paper animation about a day in the life
of CRES, by students and teachers in the
high school;
- 3-D stop-motion animation by a group of Wixaritari
(Huichol) students, telling a traditional story in their own language.
In these pages you will also find Spanish
language versions of the teaching materials
we shared with the workshop participants,
as well as video documentation and
photographs of our two weeks in Estipac.

Bienvenidos!
Entre las fechas del 22 de Enero y el 2 de Febrero de 2007, tuve
la oportunidad de viajar a México con Melanie Davenport,
para ofrecer un conjunto de talleres sobre video y animación
fílmica a los estudiantes de bachillerato y licenciatura
del Centro Rural de Educación Superior (CRES).
Los enlaces de abajo mostrarán algunos
de los trabajos creados por los participantes como:
- animación con tecnología sencilla
dirigida a estudiantes que se preparan para ser profesores de
primaria
- animación con papel cortado acerca
de un día en la vida del CRES, dirigida a los estudiantes
y profesores de bachillerato.
- animación en 3D utilizando la técnica
de stop-motion, dirigida a un grupo de estudiantes Wixaritari
(Hiuchol), donde cuentan una historia tradicional en su propia
lengua.
